In Another Light is a series of spatial paintings that conceptually explore the relationship between space, time, and perception. Created in virtual reality using 3D sketching software, these spatial paintings are designed to be experienced in their native VR environment. Accompanying the series are 2D renders that capture the works from multiple orthographic viewing angles.
When viewed through a VR headset, the viewer steps into a walkable, immersive space where calligraphic forms wrap around them. As the viewer walks around, work reveals its layered construction—each stroke and curve existing simultaneously as a sculptural element and a fleeting gesture. With no animation or sound to distract, the work demands a focused, contemplative gaze, emphasizing the conceptual exploration of space, time, and perception. Yet when rendered as a 2D image capture, the entire composition collapses into a flat plane, offering no illusion of space.
